Weddings - At this point I have approximately 15 weddings on tap for this year. Tentative dates are shown on the Wedding Page. I would expect this number to grow to slightly by the end of next year. It's gotten so busy I have another photographer or two who are helping out when I get weddings on dates I'm already committed for.
Awards - I recently sent four photographs to the Professional Photographer's Society of New York non-member competition. One scored at the blue ribbon level and three scored at the red ribbon level. I also have had one print of the Seneca Pier accepted at the Capital Arts Exhibit in Bethesda, MD.
Larger Prints - I have been making prints as large as 13" x 44" with great success. Not all images reproduce well at that size, but many do.
Virginia Trip - My brother, sister-in-law, Carol and I traveled to Virginia last fall for a little R&R and Civil War research. Got some interesting photos that will be on the website soon. Next trip is to Disney in Florida with my son, his wife and three grandkids. Should be fun, but hot. Then on to Atlantic City in the fall for a week. I still want to go to Canyon de Chelly, Monument Valley, Yellowstone nad other places. Maybe after we retire.
Note Cards - I have recently put together a series of Fine Art Photograph Note Cards, Post Card Reproduction Note Cards (from early 20th century scenes and other things from the Elmira, Horseheads, Watkins Glen and Ithaca area), and Old Image Note Cards (from negatives 80-120 years old). They are all are suitable for matting and framing by the receipient. Pricing is shown on the
How to Order page.
Where to see and purchase my photographs and special note cards - I now have photographs and note cards (and some stained glass in a couple of places) in several area establishments, with more to come.
Cappy's, 205 West Clinton Street, Elmira, NY. (Note Cards)
Chemung County Chamber of Commerce Office, 400 E. Church Street, Elmira, NY 14901 (Post Card reproduction Note Cards only.)
Chemung County Historical Society, 415 East Water Street, Elmira, NY 14901 (Post Card reproduction Note Cards and Prints only.)
State Fair - I sent two photographs, "Tall Grass" (black and white) and "Angles and Arcs" (color), to the 2005 New York State Fair for the "Professional" photographic competition.
I am pleased to say that both photographs won 3rd place ribbons. While this is not the first competition I have won ribbons at, it is the most competitive. There were a total of 30 entries in the color division and 114 in the black and white division. 97 professional photographers entered work.
Major Restoration Project - I recently completed a major image restoration project for a family that had lost all of their photographs in a house fire. The negatives were saved, but were not in the best condition. The protective plastic sleeving had melted to many, some were distorted from the heat, some were chard, some had water stains, etc. I scanned almost 1,000 images and printed about 970 of them. Many were is such bad shape that not much could be done with them, but about half were salavagable and were touched up and color corrected using Photoshop to produce a reasonable reproduction of the original image.
